VISIT THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM SCHÖNBRUNN PALACE

History a bore? No way!
With us you can learn a great deal about the imperial family, try out things yourselves, and dress up as His and Her Majesty. If you’d like to celebrate an imperial birthday with your friends some time, you’re at just the right address!

Welcome to the Children's Museum in Schönbrunn Palace – experience (hi)stories live!

In the Schönbrunn Palace Children’s Museum you can discover a whole lot of interesting things about the everyday life of the imperial family: How did they dress? How was the imperial table set? What about personal hygiene? In the twelve rooms on the palace ground floor everything revolves around life in the eighteenth century, the age of Maria Theresa. Topics like hygiene and hairstyles, fashion, servants, toys, lessons, also food and dining are arranged in an attractive presentation in the rooms, with action stations you can take part in.

During opening hours you can explore the museum any time on your own. A picture wheel shows you the differences between imperial children and children from the common people. You can play with toys from the olden days, learn the fan code – a “fan”tastic secret language – or set the “imperial table”! Our large costume and dressing-up corner is of course free for all visitors to use, and everyone can get dressed up as prince or princess.
